Information for Stallholders at Sherwood

This page contains information for prospective stallholders. Please read it carefully BEFORE booking a stall.

The Sherwood market runs from 10am to 2:30pm on the second Saturday of each month at Sherwood United Reformed Church, 1 Edwards Lane, Sherwood, Nottingham. NG5 3AA.

We welcome stalls of any type. Your business does not have to be entirely vegan but ALL products or services sold or promoted at the market MUST be vegan in accordance with the Vegan Society definition. We reserve the right to refuse bookings for any reason; we wish to ensure that the market has a diverse range of stalls and that the stalls represent a positive vegan message. If your business is part of a MLM (Multi-level marketing) scheme then please check the appropriate section of the Terms and Conditions before applying.

Our hosts, the church, have asked that we do not ‘promote material of a controversial nature’ and we request that all stalls respect their wishes. We think that general vegan/AR campaign material should not be affected by this restriction.

There are approximately 12 indoor and 34 outdoor pitches available at a range of prices. There is also a kitchen which is available to use, with electricity, sinks, a large cooker, extraction hood, prep surfaces, water boiler etc and a serving hatch to the inside area. If you are interested in this, then please ask us.

We may pick and choose which stalls can trade each month to create a vibrant and diverse market.

An indoor stall will consist of a single 6-foot table (your own or rented from the market) plus a small additional display space for a clothes rail , upright banner etc. There is room behind the stall to store additional stock. There are plenty of seats inside the hall for stallholders. You cannot cook inside the hall (except in the kitchen area – see below), but hot-holding with electrical equipment is permitted. There must be no lit candles, gas devices, or other flames indoors.

Outdoor stalls must have a gazebo or other covering. You can rent a gazebo from us if you do not have one. If you bring your own covering you must ensure that it is in good, safe condition and weighted down (the site can get very windy). There is an additional charge for outdoor stalls that extend more than 3 metres in either direction.
Tables are available to rent for indoor and outdoor stalls. We do not provide table cloths.

There is VERY limited electricity indoors and there is a limit on the wattage of equipment. There are only two sockets for use by an outdoor stall. There is a charge for use of electricity. Only low power electrical equipment can be used in the hall; no cooking equipment. You can use your own generator in an outdoor stall but you must let us know when booking so we can allocate a suitable pitch. If you require electricity for your stall, please let us know on your booking form. If you are able to trade without electricity then that may be the best option. All electrical equipment used must have a valid PAT test certificate .

Vehicles can be brought onto the site to set up and dismantle your stall. Vehicles must be removed from the site during market hours; there is free on-street parking available nearby.

Toilets are available inside the church for the use of stallholders and customers, including a disabled toilet. There is level access to the inside and outside areas of the market.

Stallholders must have Public Liability Insurance that covers their activities at the market and Product Liability Insurance for any retail products they make. Any stall serving food must have local authority food safety registration and documented food safety procedures. Any stall selling cosmetics must have a licence and product test certificates. Stalls selling alcohol must arrange their own event licence. All stallholders should carry out a risk assessment before trading. These documents will be checked before you trade.

Please also read the Terms and Conditions for Stallholders which includes a code of conduct for all traders.

If you wish to trade at the market, please complete forms to register your business and make a booking.
